I started quilting about 30 years ago in the middle of a change in my life. I borrowed my daughter’s Featherweight machine, got a pattern book, some fabric and set out to make my first quilt. I still have that quilt today to remind me of how far I, and the industry, have come.
Thirty years later, quilting is my passion. My quilts are machine sewn and most are hand quilted. I will decide to get a piece machine quilted if I feel the pattern would add to the overall quilt design.
I favor the Log Cabin design because I feel the geometric pattern creates an eye-appealing effect. There are many variations to the Log Cabin but it always looks classic. In building a Log Cabin, I need to choose over 40 different fabrics in varying shades and patterns to accomplish the light and dark elements in the overall design. I use Warm & Natural batting because it holds up well in the washing machine (yes, all my quilts are washable).
I make bed quilts of all sizes from Twins to California Kings. I also make couch quilts, baby quilts, wallhangings and quilted potholders. I sell my quilts in Stowe, VT and my potholders are sold in Gloucester at Alexandra’s Bread and Premiere Imprints.
I can make a custom quilts on commission.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in my work or would like to set up an appointment.

Hi Dot, Your name was given to me by Mike on GHB today as I walked Graham, my 12 week GSP. I have been a quilter since 1969 and have taught, etc. since then. I don’t travel except to buy fabric now, live over by GHB, just returned to Gloucester after my husband died and was looking to rent out rooms to quilters.
Hope to meet you on the beach some day or call: 1-978-304-9232 or email: somagolden@gmail.com

Hi Mary
Thank you for the kind words. It’s nice to meet another local quilter!
I quilt at my house so renting another room is not necessary.
I love taking walks on GHB with my dogs as well.
